Boccia and Scooch are both inclusive target games that are suitable for older adults. Galway Sports Partnership can demonstrate the games as well as loan the equipment to your group for a set number of weeks.
Boccia is an adaptation of curling which is played on ice. The game is played indoors with weighted leather balls and players try to get their ball closest to the target to win.
Scooch is an adaptation of Shuffleboard which is played on boats. The game is played indoors on a smooth surface (wooden floor or thin carpet) and players aim for a target. The game is played by pushing flat discs (similar to a hockey cue) with a ‘cue’ along the floor.
